Gardening and wildlife are intertwined threads running through my life, shaping both my work and my approach to living. At different times, one or the other has been in the ascendance with the other coasting alongside. Today, I like to think they are equal in my thinking and work.

I am interested in the sweet spot where good garden design can please the eye, calm the mind, and support wildlife in a climate-challenged world of fast-shrinking biodiversity.

Warmer, wetter winters and hotter, drier summers create particular challenges for gardeners and wildlife. The principle of “right plant, right place” and the need for garden adaptation have never been more important.
